Over view: - Internet & India: - Only 60 million people are having proper access to internet which is around 5% of total population. Till date large no. of advertisers use traditional media for advertisement like newspaper, magazines, TV, outdoor etc. But in cities internet advertising is growing at the speed of 40% per year or may be more. More than 50+ cities are observing fast growth in internet adverting including PPC, SEO,SMO, web portal ads , email marketing etc.

Current phase of SEO Industry in India:-  I can say now SEO industry is on evaluation stage , passing through immaturity to maturity stage. In terms of awareness of  SEO, only corporate companies are well versed with buying SEO , but small & medium  business sector is still not matured enough to buy appropriate  SEO services . SEO prices don’t have any bench mark; neither there is any authority to provide certification to authentic and qualified SEO service provider.

 Provider of SEO services: -

A) SEO companies: - As per my perception there are more than 1800+ SEO firms in India who are providing SEO services to local & international clients. Lots of web development,  ITES, BPO, KPO, Software development firms are also converting or adding  SEO services to their kitty.

B) Portals: - Portals are creating micro site or webpage under sub domain for clients & optimism the same and every year they are asking huge renewal coast because they are having website control ( they  blackmail to clients ) .Most of the portals operates in small & medium business sector , mostly  in B2B type of industry, as yellow pages are dying so portals have good days.  There are more than 50+ portals doing business of   Rs.0.5 cr to 40 cr each in different business verticals.

C) SEO consultant: - Clients from small business sector are hiring independent SEO consultants, this new trend I am observing in Indian market recently. SEO consultants are charging around Rs. 12000 per month.

D) In-house:- Instead of  buying SEO services  ,  business houses started developing small SEO team in house which may save their cost & can do multiple digital marketing activities.

E) SEO outsourcing: - I think after Philippines, India must be second largest destination for SEO services for rest of the world. There are many companies who only do SEO outsourcing work.

Ppricing standards for SEO serves in India:-  There very big confusion for clients while buying SEO services . No bench mark, No standards, No authentic authority to identify right SEO services.

Who is buying SEO :-  Corporate , Financial service provides , real estate companies, education institutes ,  Industrial product manufactures & exporters, e-commerce companies etc   are leading buyers of SEO services.

What is clients approach while buying SEO services:-  if it gets result then it is going to be most economic business promotion solution . Clients are more interested in business leads than the visibility of website. SEO is one of the tools to generate leads . I have seen very rarely client see SEO as branding solution for their business.

Top buying locations of SEO services in India:- Top 9 cities are top buying locations  for SEO, which are  Delhi NCR ,Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmadabad

Digital marketing services buying with SEO :- SMO is most popular service clients buy along with SEO. Very few client buy PPC , Banner ads etc

SEO education, training in India: - There is no renowned, branded educational institute available who rewards great course content and degree in SEO on which industry should trust before hiring SEO consultant or employee. All small &  vocational courses available by private   authorities.  There is huge gap between demand and supply of SEO experts.

What can be happen in next 5 years in SEO :-  As no. of websites are growing in India & because of 3G ,4G & more  usage of smart phones ,  internet users  will grow by 4 times within next 5 years. SEO industry may grow by what speed which you can imagine.

Summary:-  Opportunity is really good in SEO  Industry for companies & candidates. Biggest need is good trainers , good institutes  who can produce good SEO expert which is going to be huge demand so that SEO industry will get good shape in India.
